When I first started my internship at Onespacemedia, I had mixed feelings; I was looking forward to getting into a commercial environment, but slightly nervous that I didn’t have much experience in the world of the web. I needn’t have worried.
The great thing about internships is that they provide a platform for someone looking to get work experience to grow and learn, within a supportive environment. There’s no such thing as a stupid question; in fact, questions are encouraged. The more the merrier. There’s no better way to begin to apply 3 years of degree course education to a commercial environment, safe in the knowledge that everyone around you is there to help you achieve whatever you set out to do.
When I first sat down to write this blog I was amazed by how much I’d squeezed into 3 months. From web design to branding to coding and everything in between. I had initially passed coding off as a dyslexic’s nightmare – and it wasn’t easy – but the team here were patient and, it turns out, great teachers.
Onespacemedia can proudly say that it is officially a place where dreams come true. In my final week I dreamt that I met my boss in Asda (I have no idea why); we came back to the office to do some hoovering, and funnily enough on Thursday morning, for the first time in the 3 months, I found myself hoovering...
I’m incredibly grateful to the whole team at Onespacemedia; I leave them with more digital knowledge and experience than I thought possible in 12 weeks. Thanks guys, it’s been emotional!
