We are delighted to announce the launch of Cambridge Enterprise's new website. Powered by Onespacemedia's content management system, the website is the culmination of four months' in-depth research and development.

Reorganising complex information

Cambridge Enterprise helps inventors and entrepreneurs make their ideas and concepts more commercially successful for the benefit of society, the economy and the University of Cambridge. They offer a diverse range of services across multiple markets including industry and academia.

Onespacemedia engaged a group of Cambridge Enterprise stakeholders in a detailed research and discovery process that included interviews, surveys, online research and other information gathering techniques. The culmination of this process was the delivery of a specification document that set out recommendations for the new website based on the research process. The document also included site maps, wireframes demonstrating layout and functionality, audience analysis and technical specifications for bespoke databases and functionality.

On-brand University website design

As subsidiary of the University, Cambridge Enterprise was able to use the new University website design guidelines that were recently created by Onespacemedia. As well as saving on design costs, we were able to quickly work up designs for the website using skeleton design templates that included structural grids, typographic rules and navigation schemas.

We polished off the design with the help of renowned Cambridge photographer Sircam who was commissioned to produce images for the site for use in banners and carousels. We also used entries to the The Carl Zeiss Photography Competition from the Department for Engineering for use in the header banner.

Rapid delivery of information

Sue Keogh, our resident content supremo, worked with the Cambridge Enterprise team to produce structured website content optimised for the diverse audience types. We created a series of technical initiatives such as a document download system, a state-of-the-art search tool, content-specific contact information and a FAQ system to work in conjunction with the copy to ensure that web visitors can find the information they need quickly and efficiently.

Full website control

Under the hood we put our state-of-the-art content management system to work to ensure that Cambridge Enterprise staff had a reliable set of tools to manage their website and data ecosystem. We built custom modules and databases to power information relating to people, companies, reagents, licensing opportunities, news, case studies and more. We built an html email creation and delivery system and lead acquisition database. The combination of these technical innovations ensure that staff can manage every aspect of the Cambridge Enterprise website and online marketing from one simple-to-use web interface.
